Sal da Terra Brasis (1993)

Produced by Sidney Brito, recorded by Gospel Records, in 1993, Sal da terra brasis was our second album. O title is a direct reference to one of the best books I gave ever read: Em terras dos brasis, by Rev. Wadislau Martins Gomes. The song that names the album (Sal da

terra) wascomposedbymeandbyAndreievKalupniek, whilewewereatthehouseofRev. Alberto Reason, in Spokane, WA USA.

It was one of the first trips I did to the land of Uncle Sam, I was completely mesmerized with all the opportunities in the US, and also was awed by the beauty of Spokane. In a beautiful afternoon, while I went through an old photograph album, I found a photo of Rev. Alberto in the Amazon River, giving dental care to a local. At that moment, while I meditated in the life of that pastor, a thought came to my mind “how could someone leave such a good place, with economic stability, with so many life opportunities, to live amongst those poor people?” It was a contrast. I, a brazilian, wanted to live in the US. He, an authentic american citizen, left all behind to live amongst those in need and thus show the love of Jesus. Now that you know the story, the lyrics from Sal da terra will make more sense.
